The French Restaurant and The Café
The French Restaurant ranks, quite deservedly, among the top ten restaurants in Prague and in addition to top-class gastronomy, it has also been declared the most beautiful Art Nouveau restaurant in the world. Its luxurious character is accentuated by rich stucco decoration and ornate decorative light fittings. Art Nouveau murals by Josef Wenig (1885–1939) entitled Prague Receiving Her Guests and allegories of Hop-growing and Viniculture represent the artistic focal point.
The Café with its gallery and large windows, at the head decorated by a lighted fountain with a marble relief of a Nymph, is located on the ground floor of the south wing. Its dazzling Art Nouveau interior is an invitation to a cup of excellent coffee and delicious desserts, whose quality is on par with Vienna's finest.
