Palacký hall

Palacký Hall’s decoration features decorative mural and ceiling panels focusing on the theme of the golden age of mankind. They were painted by Jan Preisler, one of the most distinctive Czech painters. These paintings of extraordinary quality were made between 1910 and 1912. They represent bathing women in a serene, dreamy countryside, reminiscent of an earthly paradise, and a painting of a victorious youth with a spear, riding a white horse amidst a group of men and women. The hall’s name is a tribute to František Palacký, a prominent 19th-century Czech historian, politician, and organizer of national cultural life.
