Once again this year, listeners are getting ready to snap up tickets to the popular Hollywood Night concert. One difference this time around, however is that the Czech National Symphony Orchestra will be headed its Music Director Steven Mercurio. The big draw for the evening will undoubtedly be a performance of one of America’s most celebrated personalities, the Oscar winning actor Richard Dreyfuss.
The first half of the evening will feature music from a number of films in which Richard Dreyfuss acted. The programme will also present the orchestral work Lincoln's portrait of the most prominent American composer of the interwar period, Aaron Copland, including excerpts from speeches and letters by President Abraham Lincoln, as well as original folk period songs. The audience can look forward to soaking up the sounds of Richard Dreyfuss’ unmistakable voice to music played by the symphony orchestra.
The second half of the concert will be dedicated to famous scores from iconic Hollywood films. This year's Hollywood Night promises to serve up a wonderful medley of international soundtracks from films such as Jaws (1975), Zorba the Greek (1964), Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977), Piano (1993) and Saving Private Ryan (1998).
