Seize the moment. Stay in the sound. Step outside of time.

Maxim Vengerov, often hailed as the greatest living string player of our time, returns to Prague. The acclaimed soloist and conductor and Grammy Award winner, whose name resonates on the world’s most prestigious stages, will perform on 26th April in the Smetana Hall at a special concert with the Prague Philharmonia under the baton of Emmanuel Villaume.

The evening’s programme offers a journey through three musical landscapes in a journey from joyous energy to quiet contemplation.

The concert opens with Felix Mendelssohn’s ‘Italian‘ Symphony, a joyful, sunlit work in which the orchestra will shine with the precision, clarity and vitality for which it is so renowned.

Next comes Alexey Shor’s Violin Concerto No. 6 – ‘Carpe Diem‘ – a contemporary piece built on clarity of line, a radiant lyricism and a subtle virtuosity. Maxim Vengerov lends it an inner strength and a luminous tone in a performancecombining brilliant technique with profound emotion.

The emotional core of the evening will be Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto – a deeply personal musical confession. In Vengerov’s hands, the work becomes a statement of sincerity and expressive intensity. His interpretation balances inner fire with natural eloquence. The music unfolds from within – sincere, noble and heartfelt.

Maxim Vengerov performs on the ex-Kreutzer Stradivarius (1727).
